Partnership for Onondaga Creek

The Partnership for Onondaga Creek is a diverse, community-based environmental justice organization, rooted in the Midland area of Syracuse, New York. We are committed to empowering local communities, through knowledge and tools for change, to make the water and environment in and along Onondaga Creek meet the highest standards.

Onondaga Environmental Institute serves as fiscal sponsor to the Partnership for Onondaga Creek. OEI and POC's missions are aligned through commitment, education and positive action toward the revitalization and protection of our water resources and the communities that they flow through.

Healthy Homes at Bob's School

As a part of the "Promoting Healthy Homes in Syracuse" USEPA grant, the Partnership, Syracuse United Neighbors, L& M Training Center, and Onondaga Environmental Institute* raises public awareness about the risks to healthy homes. Exposure to lead paint, mold, pests, radon, and asbestos can make our families and homes sick. Additionally, inefficient energy use can be wasteful and costly.

The USEPA awards a $25,000 Environmental Justice grant for "Promoting Healthy Homes in Syracuse" to the POC, Onondaga Environmental Institute, Syracuse United Neighbors, and L & M Training Center. The awardees will be putting on four community meeting with the help of the city and county to raise awareness of the dangers from lead and asbestos often present in Syracuse's older homes. And L & M Training Center will offer certified trainings in safety, lead remediation and asbestos removal.
