The Environmental Collaborative for Upstate Sustainable Employment (eCUSE) is a U.S. Department of Labor and CNY Works-administered program that assists Syracuse, NY residents to prepare for and enter into paid employment in the emerging green economy.

CNY Works is a one-stop employment and training center whose purpose is to assist individuals with job searching, job or career changes, or with building/upgrading job skills, through expert guidance and quality resources and training. CNY Works' staff of experienced career counselors works with hundreds of area employers and has up-to-date information on who is hiring and what types of jobs are in demand. CNY Works can assist people to locate education and training services where applicable.

CNY Works assists with:

•Individual employment plan development

•Current labor market information

•Job search support

•Information on training and tuition assistance

•On-site employer recruitments, job matching and referrals

•Specialized resources for customers requiring bilingual assistance

eCUSE, The Environmental Collaborative for Urban Sustainable Employment, is supported by a $3.7 million US Department of Labor grant and builds on the capacity of a coalition of partner organizations committed to increasing employment options in green technology for targeted persons living in Syracuse urban neighborhoods with the highest poverty levels. The initiative will develop a pipeline of talent for Syracuse's burgeoning green industries. The goal of the program is to serve 1,000 prospective workers through interdisciplinary teams, working in partnership with neighborhood organizations.

eCUSE provides qualifying participants* with training in "green" practices and job support services in areas such as construction, deconstruction, maintenance, landscaping, management and team building, and sustainable office procedures. Additionally, basic workplace skills are emphasized. Case management is also included.
