"Gaining Ground" -- What If film & discussion

On Monday, May 19 at 6pm at Tucker M.B. Church (515 Oakwood, 13205) the Urban Jobs Task Force will be showing the What If film "Gaining Ground" followed by a discussion.  The film show how a Boston neighborhood stood up for itself.   The big question that needs community input is: "With all of the current development in Syracuse, how can we make sure that there are the jobs for those that need them the most"?

The Urban Jobs Task Force is fighting for training, local jobs and contracts. Come support the Task Force, at the public study session on June 25 ,as we educate our city common councilors about Community Benefit Agreements (CBAs). Together, we must ask our common councilors to only give tax breaks to developers after they deliver community benefits.

Urban Jobs Task Force

Since 2009, the POC has been working on Green Jobs for the urban un- or under-employed. In 2011 we started working on, not just Green Jobs, but any job that might bring some economic equity to urban residents. To address the jobs issue, a number of organnizations and individuals are collaborating as the Urban Jobs Taskforce.
